CDIB Capital International Corporation, established in 2006, is the overseas investment arm of China Development Financial (CDF), focusing on direct investments in private equity, private debt, and special situations across the Asia-Pacific region. With approximately $1.2 billion in AUM, the firm targets companies in Greater China, South Korea, and Japan, with a presence in the US. Their investment strategy encompasses venture capital, growth capital, healthcare, buyouts, special situations, co-investments, and private credit. For direct investments, they typically focus on Series B rounds with check sizes ranging from $1 million to $5 million. Their sector focus is diverse, including Business Services (B2B), Consumer Products, Consumer Services (B2C), Financial Services, Industrial, Media and Entertainment, Retail, AI, and healthcare (biotech, pharmaceuticals, med-tech, digital health care). CDIB Capital also engages in buyouts of medium-sized enterprises in Greater China and actively participates in co-investments with top-tier fund managers. The firm has managed proprietary and third-party capital from various institutional investors and achieved a first close of US$116 million for its Global Opportunities Fund in September 2018. CDIB Capital is part of the CDIB Capital Group, the private equity and asset management arm of KGI Financial Holding, with origins tracing back to the China Development Industrial Bank founded in 1959.
